EADS North America Defense Security and Systems Solutions, Inc. has certified the processes it uses for computer and network security services – becoming one of the industry’s first suppliers to reach Maturity Level 3 in accordance with the globally recognized Capability Maturity Model (CMM).
This qualification ensures the company has well defined and standardized processes for the information assurance and certification and accreditation (C&A) services it provides – incorporating sound project management principles that are repeatable and which anticipate changing requirements.
The Capability Maturity Model originally was developed by the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute in 1997, and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense to improve the maturity of software development. In recent years, other information technology services have begun utilizing adaptive versions of the CMM process for implementing sound practices for process improvement.
“Reaching Maturity Level 3 is the culmination of a nearly 15-month process that defined and outlined every single procedure we use – from project definition and management to the final customer delivery of our services,” explained Johnnie Hernandez, the company’s Chairman, President and CEO. “This certification will provide greater long-term value in the form of quality products and services to our customers worldwide as well as greatly enhance our corporate processes, while increasing efficiency and quality within the organization.”
The ultimate goal of EADS North America Defense Security and Systems Solutions is to reach a CMM Maturity Level 5, which will further refine its processes and procedures by incorporating quantitative management and optimization through continuous process improvement.
