EADS North America’s aircraft and systems highlighted at the Army Aviation Association of America’s annual conference

April 13, 2006

EADS North America had a major presence at the 2006 Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA) annual convention in Nashville, Tennessee, which has become one of the key military aviation meetings in the United States.

Exhibits and displays at the April 9-12 convention underscored EADS North America’s response to two major U.S. military mission requirements: the Light Utility Helicopter and Future Cargo Aircraft, as well as company systems and hardware for unmanned aerial vehicles and in ground-based engine testing.

EADS North America’s primary exhibit at the Opryland Resort and Convention Center featured information on the UH-145 entry for the Army’s Light Utility Helicopter mission, as well as the CN-235/C-295 candidates for the Army/Air Force Future Cargo Aircraft requirement.

In addition, the EADS North America Defense Test & Services business unit highlighted its Universal Throttle Control system, which is designed to meet the ground test needs of both military and commercial gas turbine engines. Also on the exhibit stand was EADS’ MiSAR® miniaturized synthetic aperture radar for tactical unmanned aerial vehicles.

One of the AAAA show’s highlights was the first appearance of the UH-145 helicopter, featured in the main exhibit hall’s aircraft static display area. Members of the UH-145 team, including program managers and technical/flight personnel, briefed Army visitors on the helicopter’s best-value solution for the Light Utility Helicopter mission. Walkaround visits of the UH-145 also were provided.

Team JCA – the EADS CASA North America/ Raytheon Company industry teaming – had its own booth at the AAAA convention, where advantages of the CN-235/C-295 offering for the Joint Cargo Aircraft program were detailed. Representatives of Team JCA provided updates on the CN-235/C-295’s combat mission experience, and underscored the program’s commitment to U.S. assembly of the Joint Cargo Aircraft.

The UH-145 helicopter was a center of attention during the 2006 AAAA convention, with visitors giving the rotary-wing aircraft high marks for its new-generation avionics suite, excellent visibility and large rear clamshell doors – which provide optimum access to the helicopter’s unobstructed main cabin.
